9. The Türkiye Yüzyılı in Sustainability Social Model Design Competition

The aim of this competition is to design social models that prioritize environmental protection and ecological balance, while also aiming to strengthen public awareness and preparedness for natural disasters. Participants are expected to propose social models that fulfil this objective.

The conscious use of natural resources, the adoption of environmentally friendly lifestyles, and the creation of disaster-resilient community structures are of vital importance for a sustainable future. In this context, participants are expected to develop social models that reduce environmental pollution, promote recycling, expand the use of renewable energy, prevent water and food waste, and increase ecological awareness. In addition, awareness campaigns for disaster preparedness, projects that strengthen solidarity in the aftermath of disasters, and solutions aimed at enhancing urban resilience to natural disasters may also be addressed within the scope of the competition. The overarching goal is to contribute to Türkiye’s sustainable development by fostering an environmentally conscious and disaster-aware society.

Social Model Title: EcoThink Youth Movement

Unique Value: EcoThink is an innovative model aimed at increasing environmental awareness among youth, promoting sustainable living habits, and raising consciousness about natural disasters. The project seeks to cultivate environmental awareness from local to global levels.

Model Methodology: "EcoThink Clubs" are to be established in schools, organizing workshops on recycling, energy conservation, and disaster awareness. Regular tree planting events, clean energy projects, and local disaster preparedness drills are carried out with students. A digital platform enables young people to share their environmental projects and participate in award-winning competitions.

Model Feasibility: The project may be funded with the support of the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change. Municipalities and non-governmental organizations can provide both logistical and educational support.

Widespread Impact: Awareness of sustainable living increases among youth, and collective solutions to environmental challenges are developed. The level of preparedness for natural disasters across society rises, and Turkey becomes a model nation in the field of environmental protection.
